The most compassionate team for pets. We've been coming here for probably 20 years and have never had an issue. Probably not the cheapest place around but worth a little more for great care. We'd be hesitant to trust anyone else with our pets unless we have to. Dogs and cats primarily for us. They always fit us in if we're concerned about something.
I want thank all those who posted a review of Schulmeyer Animal Hospital for influencing my decision to take a wounded stray cat for care. I could not have asked for a more pleasant, efficient experience. I am certain I could have been pressed to get everything the animal would need, but was limited to focus on the necessities , the care of his wounds, a flea medicine and a rabies vaccine. Matthew Schulmeyer performed a thorough exam and made recommendations for further health maintenance should I decide to keep the cat. He's finally free of pain and oozing wounds. I am so grateful and sincerely recommend Schulmeyer and his wonderful staff for excellent and compassionate care at a reasonable price.
Very short wait time, always able to get my fur babies seen for an emergency (less than 24hrs) quick to get in for any appointment. His prices are very reasonable! His staff is just as amazing as he is! They are all very kind, compassionate, helpful, and informative! I'm so grateful to have found Dr. Schulmeyer! He is a great veterinarian and a kind man!
We have been with Dr. Schulmeyer for a few years and always know our pets are in good hands. His staff are courteous and friendly, you can get appointments quickly, and it’s reasonably priced.
I'm a fair person and, honestly, I've already lowered the bar substantially when it comes to bedside manner of vets and doctors, but I would not recommend this vet to anyone. First time patient, you'd think he would be welcoming and understanding even if it was an act to get future business. Instead, after treating my elder cat in the back, he said, "Your supposedly friendly cat just scratched 2 of my staff. If he (my cat is a she) dies in the next 10 days, you will have to put him in the refrigerator so we can test him for rabies." I was dumbstruck. Here I am, quietly hopeful that the dr. could help my very sick cat, part of my family for 16 years, and he is talking about her death with utterly no compassion. Even if he was legally required to tell me this info., which I would completely understand, he could have prefaced it with, "I'm sorry I have to say this and we are hopeful that she will improve, but..." And when I later told him it was inappropriate, he didn't apologize, just said he didn't want to sugarcoat the truth. The truth is that he and his staff should know how to treat a sick cat so they are at low risk of getting scratched or bitten. The dr. didn't take the correct precautions and, instead, blamed a sick innocent animal and offered no compassion to her or me. And charged us $500 for a blood test that... confirmed she is constipated (which we already knew). I would look elsewhere if you want competent compassionate care for your pet. If he can treat us like this (quiet, respectful, hopeful people, willing to trust our beloved pets to his care), then how will he treat your pet?
