Just moved to Baltimore a few weeks ago & my 12 year old boxer woke this morning ill & in pain. He has a cancer history, in remission x 1 year & experienced an acute change today in the location of the stage 2 tumors removed last year. I called to inquire about an appointment, because being brand new here, we haven't yet established local veterinary care. They are not accepting not patients, which of course happens in practices. I understand that fact. I'm a healthcare provider for humans & that's often the case in my own practice (although I do often make exceptions for urgent issues). The lack of capacity for new patients is not my issue, but that information may be helpful for others to know, so they don't waste their time with calling or navigating their phone tree. My issue is the lack of compassion from the front desk staff. She provided a single nearby practice as an alternative & when I was trying to inquire about proximity because I was uncertain if I'd be able to help my 100 lb dog into my SUV due to the urgent problem I was seeking care for, noting this practice is less than a 5 minute walk from my home (I was as much thinking aloud while also trying to understand the location of the other practice in a brand new city) her response was "oh well, good luck" and hung up. That is simply not an acceptable response. Not sure if you only receive a compassionate tone from this clinic after you've paid them money, or if this is a more pervasive issue. Again, I understand practices become full and cannot accept new patients, even for a one-time urgent appointment, but it left a poor taste in my mouth & I will not be a future client, even if they begin accepting new patients again, despite the extremely convenient location. It also made me hesitant to trust the referral she provided. So far Baltimore has been has been such a welcoming city & community, with this marked exception.

I use to enjoy taking my pets there. Recently I haven’t. I love Dr. Truillo but the new vet I don’t care for. I think his name is Dr. Tishman. He didn’t handle my cats well and he isn’t pleasant. The staff is generally very nice and professional.
